The Musée d'Orsay is once again offering an exhibition event! On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the first Impressionist exhibition, a fresh look and a new questioning is offered on this key date in avant-garde art. On 15 April 1874, an exhibition opened at Nadar's house, bringing together 31 artists who offered scenes from modern life, or landscapes in light tones and with a lively touch, sketched in the open air. They were nicknamed Impressionists for their search for "impression". To understand the visual shock of the spectators of the time, the exhibition offers a look at the works exhibited the same year at the Official Salon. Thus, with your guide you will plunge back into the climate of this post-war era, on the threshold of the modern world.
The Birth of Department Stores
Duration: 1h30
From April 10 to October 13, 2024
The Musée des Arts Décoratifs offers a unique exhibition retracing the emergence of department stores between 1852 and 1925. It is a whole dive into the creation of our consumer society that is offered to you. These precursors had the genius to follow the desire to modernize the country of Napoleon III, by offering fashion at affordable prices, and above all to surf on a new psychology such as the consideration of the child to whom toys and fashion dedicated to him were then offered. It is also the emergence of mail order sales and sales! The Ladies' Happiness awaits you when you visit this fascinating exhibition.
At risk! Artists and Sport 1870-1930
Duration: 1h30
FromApril 4 to September 1, 2024
An exhibition that surfs on current events! The Musée Marmottan-Monet invites you to discover how sports and sportsmen and women were gradually erected into subjects of modernity or even avant-garde. While Pierre de Coubertin was organising the new Olympic Games and the practice of sport was gradually leaving the English aristocracy to merge throughout Europe as far as the other side of the Atlantic, artists made it an aesthetic issue while questioning the heroic figure characterised by his resilient spirit.
The Centre Pompidou offers you an exceptional retrospective of the father of modern sculpture. His studio is the matrix of this exhibition, which will take you on a new set of 200 sculptures, photographs, drawings, films, tools and furniture. It's an opportunity not to be missed when the last exhibition dedicated to the master dates back to 1995...
